- Orlando International Airport (MCO)

Flights between Logan and LaGuardia will be operated on JetBlue’s Embraer 190 aircraft, which feature the most legroom in coach (b) and spacious two-by-two seating. All customers are treated to the airline’s awarding-winning service, complimentary live television and 100+ channels of SiriusXM® radio at every seat, unlimited name-brand snacks and soft drinks and free Fly Fi – JetBlue’s broadband internet (c).

#OnThisDay in 1966 American Flyers Flight 280 crashes at Ardmore Municipal Airport
50 years ago today, American Flyers Airline Flight 280 (N183H) was a flight operated on a U.S. Military Air Command contract from Monterey Regional Airport in California to Columbus Airport in Georgia, via Ardmore Municipal Airport in Oklahoma. The Lockheed L-188 Electra was carrying 93 passengers & 5 crew members.
The aircraft involved in the accident first flown in January 1961 and was brought by American Flyers Airline in January 1963.
The flights pilot in command was Captain Reed Pigman. Pigman was also the President of American Flyers. The First Officer was Wilbur Marr.
American Flyers Airline Flight 280 departed Monterey Peninsula Airport at 16:32. Most of the 93 passengers on board were teen aged army recruits. The flight had been operating as a MAC charter flying new troops from Fort Ord, California to Fort Benning, Georgia and was to land at Ardmore to refuel.
In bad weather, the crew missed runway 08 instrument approach to Ardmore, so they attempted a visual circling approach to runway 30. The plane overshot the runway and crashed into a side of a nearby hill at an elevation of 963 feet (airport elevation being 762 feed msl). The aircraft was destroyed by impact and subsequent fire. Only 15 passengers survived.
An autopsy revealed that Reed Pigman had suffered a massive heart attack at the controls. The Civil Aerial Board investigation founded that he was not wearing his harness as he was landing the plane and he probably slumped forward into the controls at a low altitude, making it impossible for the co-pilot to wrest control of the plane.
It was also found out that Reed Pigman was under care for arteriosclerosis and Pigman had falsified his application for a first class medical certificate and that he was also suffering from diabetes. Both of these conditions would have been disqualifying factors for issuance of the certificate.

NEWS Dublin Airport to have a new runway by 2020!
The 3,110 metre runway will be built 1.6km north of the existing main runway and is expected to be delivered in 2020.
Dublin Airport is investing in the region of €320 million in this multi-faceted project which will comprise multiple contracts and packages of works.
Dublin Airport received planning permission in August 2007 to build a new runway, but the plans were put on hold due to the economic downturn and subsequent fall in passenger numbers.
However, the recovery in passenger numbers, particularly in the past two years, has been significant. The continuation of growth at Dublin Airport is dependent on having sufficient capacity available to satisfy future demand.
Dublin Airport’s North Runway development has the potential to open up connectivity to a range of long-haul destinations, particularly in fast growing economies in Asia, Africa and South America. The delivery of a new runway could support a further 31,000 new jobs over the next two decades, contributing €2.2 billion to GDP.
The North Runway has featured in successive Local Area and County Development Plans since the 1970s. As a result of years of careful planning, land for this development was safeguarded over 40 years ago, so the runway will be delivered within the airport’s existing land bank.
The development of the new runway will further enhance Dublin Airport’s economic impact which currently supports or facilitates a total of 97,400 jobs in the Irish economy.
A major study conducted by economic consultants InterVISTAS last year found that Dublin Airport contributes €6.9 billion to the national economy.
The overall impact includes almost 16,000 people employed directly at the airport campus by daa, airlines and other companies, the multiplier effects that flow from that employment, and the other sectors of the Irish economy that are facilitated by Dublin Airport.
