Avianca #AV965 was crossing the Andes and going to Santiagowhen when Airbus A330 hit extreme turbulence.
The incident left at least 20 minor injuries and 8 crew members suffered injuries because flight attendants were serving the food on board.
As reported by the airline, the event occurred when the aircraft was at cruising over “Laguna Mar Chiquita” northeast of Cordoba, Argentina.
Avianca flight AV965 landed at 04:16 (Argentina time) at Ezeiza International Airport, passengers were assisted by medical services.
In a statement, Avianca told the Airbus A330 was subjected to a review of fuselage structure.
