The Cathay Pacific flight CX170, carrying 254 passengers, left Perth for Hong Kong at 11.55pm, but a fire in one engine caused the plane to be diverted to Bali.
Their were reports from a passenger of a loud bang, sparks and then the cabin lights going dark.
