A high-speed landing by a passenger jet belonging to the Touristik Union International (TUI) caused a scare among passengers, local media reported in Finland Wednesday.
Trying to land in strong winds around the Helsinki-Vantaa airport on Tuesday, the aircraft first circled around the area for 40 minutes, local media reported.
A spokesperson of the Finnish travel agent Finnmatkat, that had customers on the flight, was quoted by the evening paper Ilta-Sanomat as saying the pilots had to resort to a high-speed landing procedure due to the wind.
No injuries were reported, but some passengers were irate about not being informed about why the plane could not land on time and normally.
Spokesperson Jenita Sillanpaa from Finnmatkat said that the possibility of an emergency landing had been taken into account and preparedness increased at the airport.
