An Air France Airbus A380 — the world's largest passenger airliner — was diverted to Halifax on Thursday after a passenger died on the plane.
The plane was travelling from Paris to New York when a 58-year-old American man was found dead, according to Nova Scotia RCMP.
Sgt. Alain LeBlanc said the man died of natural causes. Once RCMP determined the man was deceased, the medical examiner was called in.
The Airbus A380 is the largest passenger jet in the world.Officials at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport said it's the first time an aircraft of that size has ever stopped in Halifax.
The flight, AF006, arrived in Halifax at 3:59 p.m. AT, according to the airline's website.
The passengers were not taken off the plane, said airport spokesperson Peter Spurway.
The flight departed Halifax at 5:31 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in New York at 6:31 p.m, said the website.
