A fashion stylist has been banned from flying with British Airways after a mid-flight argument over her getting up to “stretch her legs,”
Bridget Nhire from Uxbridge has said BA over-reacted after a minor argument on a flight from Heathrow to Dubai.
The 33-year-old said the dispute started after a fellow passenger complained she was getting up too many times to stretch her legs. “He was telling me to sit down and I said I have the right to get up and walk around for my health. Then the crew asked me to move to the front. They said you are being aggressive, we feel you may have had a little too much to drink. I had a drink but was not drunk. I had two glasses of wine with my meal. They strapped me to the seat and put me in plastic cuffs. I have bruises.”

ALERT New French #ATCstrike tomorrow, check with your airline
Short summary of tomorrow forecast (by Eurocontrol):
Ryanair once again called on the European Commission to take action to prevent the strikes by French ATC unions, the 3rd time in 2 weeks and the 43rd time in 7 years.
According to the Irish low-cost, this latest ‘unjustified action’ shows that ‘a tiny French union’ can hold Europe’s single market (and open skies) to ransom thousands of flights from the UK are cancelled, and hundreds of thousands of passengers’ travel plans are disrupted.
Ryanair says that the European Commission’s failure to prevent ‘these repeated cancellations makes a mockery of the single European market’. Ryanair has repeatedly called upon the Commission to introduce measures to impact ATC strikes: to require French ATC unions to engage in binding arbitration and to allow Europe’s other ATCs to operate overflights over France while ATC unions are on strike.
The last French ATC strike, from March 20-22, caused more than 1,000 cancellations.

ALERT Australian Investigators Say Mozambique Debris Is ‘Almost Certainly’ from #MH370
Two pieces of debris recently discovered along the coast of Mozambique are “highly likely” to have come from missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, Australian officials said Thursday.
An analysis of the parts by an international investigation team showed both pieces are consistent with panels from a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 aircraft, Transport Minister Darren Chester said in a statement.
“The analysis has concluded the debris is almost certainly from MH370,” Chester said.
The discovery of the two pieces provide another piece of the puzzle into the plane’s fate, and bolster authorities’ assertion that the plane went down somewhere in the Indian Ocean. But whether they can provide any clues into exactly what happened to the aircraft and why is uncertain.

#OnThisDay in 2015, Germanwings Flight 9525 is deliberately flown into the French Alps
1 year ago today, Germanwings Flight 9525 (D-AIPX) was a scheduled international passenger flight from Barcelona-El Prat Airport, Spain to Düsseldorf Airport, Germany. The Airbus A320-211 was carrying 144 passengers & 6 crew members at the time of the crash.
Photograph of D-AIPX taken in May 2014.
Germanwings Flight 9525 took off from Runway 07R at Barcelona-El Prat Airport on 24 March 2015 at 10:01 am CET (09:01 UTC) and was due to arrive at Düsseldorf Airport by 11:39 CET (10:39 UTC).
The flight’s pilot in command was 34 year old Captain Patrick Sondenheimer, who had ten years flying experience (6,000 flight hours) flying A320s for Germanwings, Lufthansa and Condor.
The co-pilot was 27 year old First Officer Andreas Lubitz, who joined Germanwings in September 2013 and had 630 flight hours of experience. Both pilots were German citizens.
At 10:26 CET (09:26 UTC) the flight reached its cruising altitude of FL380. At 10:30 CET the flight was cleared direct to IRMAR waypoint, which was confirmed by the flight: “Direct IRMAR, Merci 18G.” This was the last radio contact with the flight.
At 10:30:08, Captain Patrick Sondenheimer told First Officer Andreas Lubitz that he was leaving the cockpit to use the bathroom and asked him to take over radio communications, which the co-pilot acknowledged.
At 10:30:53, the selected altitude on the Flight Control Unit (FCU) changed in from 38,000ft to 100 ft. One second later, the autopilot changed to OPEN DES mode and autothrust changed to THR IDLE mode. The aircraft started to descend and both engines speed decreased.
At 10:33:12, the speed management changed from managed mode to selected mode. One second later, the selected target speed became 308kt while the aircraft speed was 273kt. The aircraft speed started to increase along with the descent rate which varied between 1,700ft/min and 5,000ft/min, then was on average about 3,500ft/min.
At 10:33:47, the controller asked the flight crew what cruise level they were cleared for. The aircraft was at an altitude of 30,000ft in a descent. There was no answer from the co-pilot. Over the following 30 seconds, the controller tried to contact the flight crew again on two occasions, without any answer.
At 10:34, knocking and muffled voices asking for the door to be opened are heard. Captain Patrick Sondenheimer attempted to access the cockpit by the keypad. Access denied. He said “It’s me! while knocking on the door. After no response Sondenheimer started hammering on the door while shouting “For the love of God, Open this door!”. The plane was about 25,000ft.
At 10:39, Sondenheimer called for a flight attendant to bring him a crowbar hidden in the back of the plane. The pilot began smashing the door, then trying to pry and bend it open. At this point the plane was below 10,000ft. Lubitz placed an oxygen mask over his face. “Open this f**king door!” Sondenheimer screamed.
At 10:40, an alarm went off “TERRAIN, TERRAIN! PULL UP! PULL UP!” The aircraft was at an altitude of 7,000ft. Sixty seconds later at 10:41 CET (11:41 UTC) the Airbus right wing clipped the mountainside at 5,000ft. The only further sounds picked up by the CVR were alarms and screams. Moments later the plane slammed into the mountain at 403 miles per hour. All 144 passengers & 6 crew members perished.
Hero Patrick Sondenheimer fought to get into the cockpit to the very end. However, security requirements led to cockpit doors designed to resist forcible intrusion by unauthorized persons. This made it impossible for Sondenheimer to enter the cockpit before the aircraft impacted the terrain in the French Alps.
The collision with the ground was due to the deliberate and planned action of the co-pilot Andreas Lubitz who decided to commit suicide while alone in the cockpit. The process for medical certification of pilots, in particular self-reporting in case of decrease in medical fitness between two periodic medical evaluations, did not succeed in preventing the co-pilot, who was experiencing mental disorder with psychotic symptoms, from exercising the privilege of his licence.
The following factors may have contributed to the failure of this principle:
- The copilot probable fear of losing his ability to fly as a professional pilot if he had reported his decrease in medical fitness to an aviation medical examiner.
- The potential financial consequences generated by the lack of specific insurance covering the risks of loss of income in case of unfitness to fly.
- The lack of clear guidelines in German regulations on when a threat to public safety outweighs the requirements of medical confidentiality.
Soon after this crash, some airlines changed their rules to ensure two crew members are in the cockpit at all times. Some airlines that have this rule in place are Easyjet, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Air Canada and Air Transat.
US Airlines have develop procedures which include a requirement that, when one of the pilots exits the cockpit for any reason, another qualified crew member must lock the door and remain on the flight deck until the pilot returns to his or her station. A qualified crew member could be a flight attendant or a relief pilot serving as part of the crew.

ALERT #MH370 Piece of debris found in South Africa belongs to aircraft engine
A South African archaeologist has found a piece of debris with part of an aircraft engine manufacturer’s logo and Malaysia’s transport minister said Tuesday that authorities will examine it to see if it is from the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.
“Based on early reports, there is a possibility of the piece originating from an inlet cowling of an aircraft engine,” but a further examination and analysis are needed to verify whether it belongs to Flight MH370, said Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai. A team will be dispatched to retrieve the debris, Liow said in a statement.
On South Africa’s southern coast, Neels Kruger was walking along a lagoon on Monday afternoon, near the town of Mossel Bay when he spotted something that did not seem to suit the natural surroundings.
“Being an archaeologist I’m always looking for things with my nose to the ground,” said the 35-year-old. He recognized the brown honeycomb structure from photos of other pieces of debris believed to part of the missing aircraft.
“When I flipped it around, I didn’t know immediately what it was but just thought, ‘Oh my word!'” he told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. On the other side, Kruger said he recognized what remains of the black Rolls Royce logo, the manufacturer of aircraft engines. The piece is about 70 centimeters by 70 centimeters (27.56 inches by 27.56 inches) “with chunks gone from the side,” said Kruger.
The white surface, with the partial logo, has peeled away to reveal a dark metallic grey covering, a photograph showed. Kruger took photos and sent it to a friend who is a pilot, who in turn passed it on to other pilots, who all quickly became convinced that this was part of an airplane engine. Kruger alerted the South African Civil Aviation Authority who told him to sit tight until further instruction.

NEWS Are fragments from Mozambique too clean to be from #MH370?
Some extremely serious doubts about the origins of two pieces of suspected debris from MH370 have been raised by US science writer Jeff Wise, as they arrived today in Australia for analysis.
The fragments in question, found on the Indian ocean shores of Mozambique in December and February, appeared to be genuine Boeing 777 parts, but always stood out as being remarkably clear of marine fouling.
Jeff Wise has published a detailed review of the forensic implications of prolonged water immersion on such debris and concluded that it is possible that “one or both of the Mozambique objects were never in the ocean at all.”
In his conclusion Jeff Wise says:
The absence of biofouling on a piece of suspected aircraft debris recovered in Mozambique in December, 2015 suggests that it entered the water no earlier than October of that year. The absence of biofouling on a piece of suspected aircraft debris recovered in Mozambique in February, 2016 suggests that it entered the water no earlier than January, 2016. It is entirely possible that one or both of the Mozambique objects were never in the ocean at all.

The air campaign against ISIS is “taking a toll on our aircraft, our readiness and our airmen” but the “venerable B-52 … remains ready and able to meet combatant commander requirements,” Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James said during a Pentagon press briefing.
The bombers would deploy in April to take part in the air campaign against ISIS, according to Air Force Gen. Hawk Carlisle, commander of Air Combat Command, who announced the deployment while speaking at the Air Warfare Symposium 2016 in Orlando, Florida, in February.
VIDEO 5 Women brawl on board Spirit Airlines flight #NK141 to LAX
A brawl involving multiple passengers on a Spirit Airlines flight that had arrived at LAX from Baltimore on Wednesday was caught on camera by a passenger.
It all started, witnesses said, after the plane had landed and a few passengers were playing their music loudly. According to CBS Baltimore, five women were involved in the melee that began because the music was apparently being blasted on a boombox.
Other passengers asked them to turn the volume down. From there, tensions rose and the passengers came to blows.
Flight attendants and passengers were able to quickly diffuse the fight, witnesses said, and no one was seriously hurt.
Airport police and the FBI also arrived on the scene. No arrests were made but one person was cited.

The cabin crew and passengers on China Southern Airlines flight CZ3693 got a rude shock Wednesday morning when a passenger onboard the flight opened the emergency exit door before takeoff from Chengdu Airport.
According to the passenger, he was just trying to “get some fresh air” and had mistaken the door handle as a lever to open the plane’s windows, reported Chengdu Commercial News.
The plane was carrying a total of 130 passengers and was bound for Urumqi, China.
